Happy Spring! Brrr.
Have you been keeping up with your Lenten sacrifice? Remember, giving something we like up for Lent is a reminder to us to honor Jesus and the sacrifice he made for us. Great job, keep it up! Only 4 more weeks until Easter!
This week in Sunday School, our Lesson will be called, "We Continue the Work of Jesus". We will talk more about how we can follow in Jesus's footsteps, and learn about some missionaries through an activity. It will be a fun day!
I can't wait to see you all Sunday morning!
What Would Jesus Do?
The goal of Third Grade Religious Education at Our Lady of Lourdes is to learn how to really live Jesus's commandment to us to 'Love your neighbor as yourself'.

Welcome to Lent!
Today is Ash Wednesday, which begins our Church Season of Lent. On Sunday, we will explore Lent, what it means, what we should be doing, and how we can prepare ourselves for Easter during Lent. Talk to your parents about how they feel about Lent and what special things your family does during this season of preparation. I challenge you to come to class on Sunday with an idea for a Lenten sacrifice. God sacrificed His son for us, Jesus sacrificed His life for us...what could we sacrifice to show that we remember and love Jesus?
P.S. We will have snack on Sunday!!! See you at CCD!

What do you remember about Penance and Reconciliation? We studied that particular Sacrament last week, and learned that God forgives our sins, but only when we are truly sorry for them. We played a fun game where we thoughtfully wrote down one of our sins on a piece of paper, said a prayer, and threw our crumpled up sins into the trash, just like God does after we repent!
The title of our chapter this week is "The Church Respects All People". We will be talking about people with beliefs different from ours, and discussing how we can treat those people with respect, but still help them to understand that loving Jesus Christ is the way to go!
See you Sunday! Remember to keep recycing, and don't forget we are putting together a care package for our soldiers!!

This week in Third Grade
Last Sunday was a fun one! We watched a DVD which really helped the kids to understand the 7 Sacraments, and the importance of each one in our Christian lives. Father Marty stopped in to say, Hello, which was a nice surprise!
I have been in contact with my good friend, Jeff Searcey, who is currently leading an Army troop in Afghanistan. I told him that my kind-hearted third grade students would be interested in sending a care package to him and his men. I would like to start putting this box together in the next couple of weeks. Some ideas to bring for the care package: powdered drink mix to put in a bottle of water for flavor, beef jerky, coffee (especially Dunkin Donuts coffee -- and nothing with "foo foo flavors" -- but any plain coffee would be appreciated), and especially PRAYERS. We will be writing notes and drawing pictures for our servicemen and servicewomen to include, and of course will be keeping them in our prayers every week.

This week in Third Grade...
Last Sunday, we started studying the Sacraments. There are seven of them, and hopefully your children can list a few! We will really try to understand the Sacrament of the Eucharist this coming Sunday, with a story and video. We are also going to have a small Valentine's Day party, and find out just who this Saint Valentine is and why we have a day dedicated to him?????
As always, parents are welcome and encouraged to join us for class anytime!
